Teen spiritual workshop offered in Oak Park

2009-08-13 / Faith

The Church of the Epiphany (Episcopal) will host “Don’t be a Jonah: A Spiritual Journey,” a workshop for youths ages 13 to 17 to explore and develop their personal relationships with God from Mon. to Fri., Aug. 17 to 21 at the church, 5450 Churchwood Drive, Oak Park.

The interdenominational program uses an art-based approach and encourages open, thoughtful discussion.

JoHanna Jones, a Westlake Village marriage and family therapist and youth program leader, will conduct the workshop.

Themes for the week include “Who is God to me,” gaining a common group understanding of the nature of God; “Don’t be a Jonah,” a retelling of the story of Jonah from the teen perspective; and “Who I am in God,” synthesizing the information learned into a renewed connection to God and others.

The workshop fee is $50 and includes all materials.

For more information about the seminar, call Jones at (805) 341-5735 or e-mail johanna @girlsempowermentcenter.com.
