Temple plans August events

•“Shabbat Under the Stars” welcomes former U.S. Rep. Mel Levine at 7:30 p.m. Fri. Aug. 14. Levine served in the House of Representatives from 1983 to 1993 and in the California Assembly from 1977 to 1982. He is an expert on U.S. foreign policy and recently served as U.S. chair of the U.S.IsraeliPalestinian antiincitement committee established by the Wye Plantation peace agreement.
•The Conejo Jewish Job Support Group for unemployed people looking for work meets at 8:30 a.m. Tues., Aug. 18.
Coffee and bagels are provided at no cost. Experts will speak on various aspects of job seeking.
Attendees are advised to dress professionally.
•The Sisterhood hosts Alice Rene, author of “Becoming Alice: A Memoir,” at 7:30 p.m. Mon., Aug. 24 in the temple’s social hall.
Rene will speak about her book that chronicles her family’s escape from the Nazi invasion in Austria and their struggle as immigrants to America.
