‘Heroes’ exhibit coming to Reagan Library

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library has opened a new temporary exhibit, “Heroes: A Celebration of Great Americans” through Feb. 1, 2010, at the museum, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The display honors American heroes such as soldiers, citizens and leaders. The exhibit will cover John Hancock, Rosa Parks, the American Revolution, the 9/11 attacks and the “Miracle on the Hudson.”

Assembled for the first time, most of the artifacts on display have rarely, if at all, been displayed publicly. Items include the original 1898 Treaty of Paris, a handwritten letter by John Hancock, the executive order signed by President Abraham Lincoln establishing the Medal of Honor and original artifacts from the Revolutionary War, Civil War and the Normandy invasion.

The megaphone President George W. Bush used on 9/11 at the World Trade Center will also be on display.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The fees are $12 for general admission, $9 for seniors 62 and over, $6 for children 11 to 17 and free for children 10 years and under.
