Thousand Oaks Big League squad back in World Series

For the fifth time in seven years, the Thousand Oaks Big League AllStar team is competing in the Big League World Series at Easley, S.C.

Thousand Oaks advanced to the international event with a 4-3 victory over Las Vegas last week during the Western Region Tournament at Bremerton, Wash.

The local squad will look to win Thousand Oaks' second World Series title all-time.

In 2006, T.O. beat Puerto Rico 10-0 to finish first. Thousand Oaks was a runner-up in '03 and '05.

"Thousand Oaks Little League is built on reputation and commitment to our great community," TOLL president John Short said.

"Our motto is simple: 'Feared by most on the field, loved by all off the field.'"

Thousand Oaks opened World Series play Wednesday against host South Carolina District 1.

The U.S. semifinal is Tues., Aug. 4 at 4:30 p.m. PST. The final is slated for Wed., Aug. 5 at 5 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN.
