Freedom Alliance Scholarship deadline extended to Aug. 14

The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund has extended its application deadline to Fri., Aug. 14.

Applicants must be the dependent son or daughter of a U.S. soldier, sailor, airman, Guardsman or Marine who has been killed or permanently disabled (100 percent VA disability rating) as a result of an operational mission or training accident, or who is classified as a Prisoner of War or Missing in Action.

Applicants must also be a high school senior or high school graduate or be registered as a fulltime undergraduate student and under the age of 26.

The fund has awarded $2.5 million to the sons and daughters of military personnel. Last year 167 scholarships were awarded.

Many parents of scholarship recipients were killed or permanently disabled in recent conflicts in Iraq and the Persian Gulf and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. To apply, call (800) 475-6620 or go to www.fascholarship.com.
