Training offered for wildlife volunteers

2009-07-30 / Community

An orientation for wildlife rehabilitation volunteers will take place at 7 p.m. today, July 30, at 330 Charro Ave., Thousand Oaks. The event is sponsored by Squirrelmender Wildlife Rehabilitation.

Wildlife rehabilitators are permitted through the California Department of Fish and Game to rescue, rehabilitate and release native wildlife.

Many areas of volunteering are available, from handson care, support care at the facility, help to release, data input and more. Release sites are always needed as well.

Transport is needed to go between rehabilitators or picking up at shelters or veterinarian offices.

For more information and directions to the meeting, call Sharron Baird at (805) 498-8653.
