T.O. mobile home owners need help from the city

We are writing this letter in the hope that your readers will better understand what is happening here at Vallecito Mobilehome Park. In our park, we own our coaches but not the land. The park owners, the Vedder Corporation, want to sell us the park in a condoconversion. The problem is that of the 303 mobile homes, only a few of the residents can afford to buy a share.

Who are we? Vallecito is a senior park. To buy here one must be 55 years or older. Many of the residents are in their 70s or 80s. We are parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Most of us are retired. Many are church members and club members and volunteer a great deal of our time in the community as well as providing a support base for the various needs of our neighbors here in our park. We are hopeful that the City Council will help us stay in our homes and continue our good works. Elaine and Dave Morgan Newbury Park
