Ambulance rides are expensive

I was recently hospitalized at Los Robles Hospital for a brief spell. When the hospital learned I was a member of Kaiser Permanente, I was transferred by ambulance to Kaiser's hospital in Woodland Hills. I was transported to Los Robles by paramedics. There wasn't any charge.

The ambulance fee, however, from Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks to Kaiser in Woodland Hills was $1,200.

This is the difference between the public and private sector.

There was a time when ambulance service was a part of a hospital's operation. Not anymore.

Ambulance operators are now independent operators.

Fortunately, I have insurance and Medicare to cover the cost. Samuel M. Rosen Newbury Park
