Teens to win prizes at free reading club The Grant Brimhall/Thousand Oaks Library is offering a free summer teen reading club, "Express Yourself @ Your Library!" for youths in sixth grade and up. The club has no reading requirements, no required number of books to read and no limitations on genres or reading levels. Teens may read whatever appeals to them. Teens can win prizes in weekly drawings and in other teen contests. They can rate books they've read and come to the following special "teens only" events: •Michael Rayner Comedy Show at 2 p.m. Mon., July 6 at Grant Brimhall/T.O. Library and 7 p.m. at Newbury Park Branch Library. •Teen Game Night will be at 7 p.m. Mon., July 13 at Newbury Park Branch Library and 7 p.m. Thurs., July 16 at Grant Brimhall/ T.O. Library. Teens may bring a favorite board or portable electronic game. Rock Band, DDR, Guitar Hero and Wii will be available. Bring a pair of socks and water. •Teen Mystery Night will be presented by the Thousand Oaks Library Teen Advisory League at 7 p.m. Mon., July 20 at Newbury Park Branch Library and 7 p.m. Thurs., July 23 at the main library in Thousand Oaks. Registration is required by signing up at the reference/help desk. Teens will play detective and solve the mystery of "The Diva's Demise." •Extreme Splash Art Experience with artist Nancy McCarter at 3 p.m. Mon., July 27 at the Newbury Park branch and 3 p.m. Thurs., July 30 at Grant Brimhall/ Thousand Oaks Library. Registration is required by signing up at the reference/help desk. Teens will use balloons, canvas and paint throwing to make art they can take home.
