Learn to sail through UCLA courses

UCLA Extension will offer its internationally certified courses Sailing I and II: Practice and Theory, taught by Paul J. Miller, director of the California Sailing Academy Coast Guard School and a former U.S. Naval Academy sailing coach.

The beginning and intermediate courses each have classroom and on-the-water sessions.

The classroom sessions will take place at the Extension Lindbrook Center, 10920 Lindbrook Drive in Los Angeles' Westwood Village.

On-the-water sessions, which may be taken on weekdays or weekends, will be at the California Sailing Academy Coast Guard School, 14025 Panay Way, Marina Del Rey.

Course fee for each course is $425.

Sailing I classroom sessions for beginning sailors take place 6:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays, June 29, July 13 and 27. On-the-water sessions begin Sat., July 11.

Sailing II classroom sessions for intermediate sailors will be 6:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays Aug. 25, Sept. 8 and 15. On-the-water sessions begin Sat., Aug. 29.
