Several area athletes competed for the USA Field Hockey Men's Under-21 Team against 19 other squads from around the world at the Junior World Cup Field Hockey Tournament, which ran from June 7 to 21 in Malaysia.

The United States lost to Singapore 3-1 in its final match, finishing in 20th and last place overall. Jon Ginolfi of Moorpark scored the only goal for the U.S.

Team USA qualified for the Junior World Cup by earning a bronze medal at the 2009 Junior Pan American Cup in February.

Area players included Jed Cunningham of Moorpark; Kevin Barber and Will Holt of Camarillo; Colin Scally of Thousand Oaks; Ajai Dhadwal of Agoura Hills; and Ryan and Tyler Sundee of Simi Valley.
