Citibank on Newbury Road is targeted by robber

A man calmly robbed a bank in Newbury Park on Saturday afternoon by presenting an employee with a note demanding money.

The unidentified man was wearing a blue baseball cap, a blue zippered sweatshirt and metalframed prescription glasses. He was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 165 pounds. The robber departed Citibank, 2170 Newbury Road, at 1:20 p.m. June 20 with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot into the parking lot.

Anyone with information about the subject is asked to contact the sheriff's Major Crimes Unit at (805) 6549511 or the local Federal Bureau of Investigation office at (805) 642-3995. The police and FBI haven't yet determined if last weekend's incident is connected to other bank robberies and didn't have a photo of the robbery ready for publication, but the FBI does have a website where information will be posted when it becomes available. Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person responsible for this crime.
