Thank you for your editorial of June 11 asking readers "Who wants to be a 'water cop?'" and to Brit-El Gibson's letter of June 18, who agrees that this country isn't about reporting our neighbors. Too many other things are happening at a fast pace in this country that make me shudder that situations in the book "1984" are coming ever closer to our doorstep.

We need to reverse the tide of disappearing freedoms; we need less government and more personal responsibility for a better world.

With every dollar of taxation, we are denied freedom- freedom to spend our dollars in the way we see fit.

Meanwhile, government has been spending our tax dollars in the way it sees fit—punishing the responsible and rewarding the irresponsible, and creating ever more bureaucracy in the process.

That's what the tea parties are all about! If you're ready to be heard to reverse these destructive policies, please join us at the Tea Party on Independence Day in Thousand Oaks.
