Oaks Christian, La Reina athletes recognized by TVL

The TriValley League recently announced its All-League teams for spring sports.

Many Oaks Christian, Oak Park and La Reina athletes were honored by the TVL.

Boys' volleyball

Eric Varney of Oak Park is the TVL's Most Valuable Player in boys' volleyball.

The Eagles' Patrick Quinn is Coach of the Year.

Local first-team members are Jeff Sakaida and Whitney Warren of Oak Park; and Oliver MacPherson and Alani Fua of Oaks Christian.

Second-team athletes are Carter Fraciskovic and Charlie Caldwell of Oaks Christian; and Christien McManus of Oak Park.

Honorable mention nods go to Michael Shea and Derek Hale of Oak Park; and Tim Gerlach, Kevin Schoch and Cheyne Renner of Oaks Christian.

Softball

Oaks Christian's Kiana Quolas is the Tri-Valley League's MVP in softball.

OCHS skipper Peter Ackermann is Coach of the Year.

First-team players are Valerie Ortega, Savannah Carpenter and Lauren Lindstrom of Oaks Christian; Julia Rice, Kathryn Klamecki, Brett Hall and Christina Langlois of Oak Park; and Jordan Needle and Sarah Fox of La Reina.

Second-team standouts are Emily Dinino, Amanda Cox and Dana Dechene of Oak Park; Katie Elliot, Leah Bleichner and Nicole Leonard of Oaks Christian; and Maija-Liisa Ehlinger and Brynne Buchanan of La Reina.

Honorable mention nods go to Kelsey Haines and Alison James of Oak Park; Michelle Smith, Katy Trockey and Christine Castillo of La Reina; and Ava Jensen, Haley Downey and Hailey Moore of Oaks Christian.

Baseball

Oak Park's D.J. Cook is baseball Coach of the Year in the TVL.

First-team selections are Drew Hacker, Nick Pann, George Youmans and Travis Radke of Oaks Christian; and Bryan Langlois and Jake Hagen of Oak Park.

Second-team players are Hunter Kosmala and Trevor Gretzky of Oaks Christian; and Ryan Jensen and David Whitaker of Oak Park.

Honorable mention tributes go to Evan Ocello, Kevin Leonard and Sean McCarthy of Oaks Christian; and Nick Morelli, Noah Markel and Thos Brewer of Oak Park.

Boys' tennis

Oak Park's Derek Green and Stephen Lamm are doubles most valuable players for boys' tennis.

Steve Abraham of Oaks Christian is the Coach of the Year.

Jack Sanford and Connor Daly of Oaks Christian are first-team singles selections.

Teammates Chris Grasmick and Cody Goodman are first-team doubles partners.

Second-team singles honors go to Kevin Marks of Oak Park. Teammates Ryan Chan and Matt O'Gara are second-team doubles.

Honorable mention players are Wyatt Houghton, Ridge Kennington and Mason Lewis of Oaks Christian; and Mateen Saffarian, Anish Puri and Zach Orens of Oak Park.

Boys' golf

Ty Gretzky and Ryan Prosser of Oaks Christian are first-team selections on the TVL boys' golf squad.

Oak Park's Preston Walker is also on the first team.

Chris Riggs and Connor Paden of Oak Park are secondteam golfers.

Honorable mentions go to Nick Lyskin and Andrew Hughes of Oaks Christian; and Jake Orens of Oak Park.

Boys' swimming

Chase Bloch of Oaks Christian is the Tri-Valley League MVP for boys' swimming.

Jesse Ryckman, Dylan Duimovich, Kevin Fleming, Cole Baratte, Collin Baratte, Evan Anglin and Nick Steadman of Oaks Christian are first-team swimmers.

Oaks Christian's Carter Baldwin and Jake Philbrick are second-team selections.

Girls' swimming

Hayley Shillington of Oaks Christian is a first-team selection for girls' swimming in four events: the 200 medley relay, the 200 freestyle, the 500 freestyle and the 400 freestyle relay.

Oaks Christian's Diana Safa, Sarah Czerwinksi, Stephanie Fleitz, Taylor Amstutz, Kelsey Koon and Jaci Mello share firstteam honors with Shillington.

Ariana Peschke of La Reina is also on the first team.

Alexandra Keifer, Amy Tobias, Devon Ho and Elizabeth Butke of La Reina are secondteam swimmers.

Boys' track and field

Jules Sharpe of Oaks Christian is the MVP for boys' track and field.

Oak Park's Kevin Smith is the Coach of the Year.

First-team athletes are James Goldstein and Austin Gill of Oak Park; and Hunter Hays, Charlie Petrie and Niko DiMartino of Oaks Christian.

Second-team selections are Colin Rickard, Peter Markham, Cameron Stevens, Arthur Kim, Kevin Lo, Holden Claus, Mitchell Ostrove and Jeremy Chang of Oak Park; and Brian Owusu, Nick Nugwynne and Scott Arellano of Oaks Christian.

Honorable mention accolades go to Matt Shiney, Aaron Kurland, Eamon Cohen, Aki Zapata, Connor Stark and Raymond Ching of Oak Park; andTyler McGrath, Allen Stevens and Trey Smith of Oaks Christian.

Girls' track and field

Tara Blanchard of La Reina and Oak Park's Tayler Johnson are co-MVPs of the TVL girls' track and field squad.

Wes Smith of Oaks Christian is the Coach of the Year.

First-team honors go to Alexandra Courtnall and Lauren Anderson of Oaks Christian; Melissa Skiba, Kayla Batom, Mackinzee Claus, Mikayla Buss and Madison Stark of Oak Park; and Sarah Pearson, Colleen Murphy, Hanna Winter and Kristin Wendel of La Reina.

Second-team selections are Rachel Brajkovich of La Reina; Kaycee Holcomb of Oak Park; and Brianna Barrett, Jennifer Philen, Megan Hunting, Niki MacWhirter, Annalise Bachman and Stephanie Armstrong of Oaks Christian.
