Conejo Oaks baseball team features some of area's top talent
      They've given up summer freedom in the name of baseball, and they wouldn't have it any other way. The Conejo Oaks, a collection of some of the area's top baseball talent, be it in college or just leaving high school, has begun its fourth season competing in the five-team California Collegiate League.

      The following local athletes play for the Conejo Oaks: Jake Fiss, Kevin Gelinas, Paul Hartman, Kyle Jones, Robbie Seldon, Walker Shaw, Tyler Smith, Cody Thomson, and Matt and Bret Montgomery from Thousand Oaks. Brad Greve of Newbury Park and Matt Scioscia from Westlake.

Seeger shines for Warriors at state golf tourney
      A storybook ending it wasn't, but the Westlake High boys' golf team still had plenty of reasons to celebrate one of the most successful seasons in school history. Westlake finished in third place during last week's CIF/ CGA Boys Golf Championship at Poppy Hills.

Oaks Christian, La Reina athletes recognized by TVL
      The TriValley League recently announced its All-League teams for spring sports. Many Oaks Christian, Oak Park and La Reina athletes were honored by the TVL. Boys' volleyball Eric Varney of Oak Park is the TVL's Most Valuable Player in boys' volleyball.

Westlake Lacrosse Club celebrates historic day
      The Westlake Lacrosse Club held its second annual Alumni Game on Sun., June 7. The game was a fast-paced scoring fest with the Alumni beating Westlake High, 15-13. The Alumni got out to an early lead and held on as the High School made a furious comeback that fell just short.

Hoops squad finds success in second season
      A couple Los Angeles basketball teams won big games Sunday. The Los Angeles Lightning, a pro team in the International Basketball League that plays its home games at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, reached a season-high in points during a 160-123 victory over Grand Rapids Flight.

Team Turbo powers to soccer title
      FIRST PLACE— The AYSO U12 Turbo soccer team won its division at the Strawberry Cup at Camarillo. It was the fourth tournament championship for the squad under the direction of its current coaching staff.
