Local school graduates 20 nurses

Twenty nursing students successfully completed 185 hours of nurse's assistant training at Professional Medical Careers Institute and received their CNA pins on June 15 at the Grant Brimhall/ Thousand Oaks Library in Thousand Oaks.

The students obtained their clinical experience at local healthcare facilities such as Westlake Healthcare, Thousand Oaks Healthcare and Oak View Assisted Living in Thousand Oaks. These graduates will take the state certification and competency examination on June 27.

The nursing students are: Koreen Carranza, Tasha Luna, Veronica Ortiz, Camarillo; Katherine Montes, Fillmore; Wendy Fells, Moorpark; Miguel Vazquez, Ojai; Susan Garcia, Amy Gomez, Nhi Truong, Luis Vega, Oxnard; Betty Brown, Sondra Creed, Shene Woodrum, Simi Valley; Cynthia Lopez, Sylmar; Pamela Grik, Noida Norton, Mark Meck, Thousand Oaks; Izamar Avila, Brian Hawkins, Sandra King, Ventura.

Professional Medical Careers Institute is a newly approved vocational nursing school in Thousand Oaks. An upcoming LVN course is now enrolling, and CNA courses are offered every few months.
