Aerial dance studio expands facilities

The Talent Lab has increased its space at 2282 Townsgate Road in Westlake Village to 8,500 square feet, according to owner and director Susie Bellows.

The new space will include a 3,000-square-foot production room equipped with a variety of circus apparatus, including silks, lyre, hammock and static trapeze.

"This new room will provide us with plenty of space to really fly," said Bellows. In addition, there will be three dance/rehearsal rooms which will enhance the dance training program that's led by its professional staff.

"We have been lovingly referred to as the 'Mini Edge,'" said Bellows. Edge is a wellknown training studio in Hollywood that attracts professional dancers looking for a career in commercial dance.

The Talent Lab is home to the aerial dance company Revelations, which has performed at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza and hopes to take their show on tour. The youth and pre-professional dance company also continues to grow as more young dancers search for innovative ways to express themselves as artists.

"Unlike most dance studios in this area, the Talent Lab provides an opportunity for dancers to continue their dance training beyond high school," said Nikki Blakeslee, Talent Lab artistic director and choreographer.

Talent Lab is auditioning for its 2009-10 season. An aerial demonstration has been scheduled for June 24 at 6 p.m.
