FOR THE RECORD

2009-06-11 / Sports

In an article dated Jan. 1, 2009, Newbury Park's Jeff Williams was declared the winner of a third straight championship during the West Coast Pro Truck series at I-10 Speedway at Blythe.

Williams, however, was later ruled to have used an illegal cylinderhead during the Nov. 29 finale, and the points championship was instead awarded to Ricky James, a 20year-old rookie from Murrieta.

Williams finished second in the points standings.
