Critic of RV owners should respect the Golden Rule

2009-06-11 / Letters

After reading John Fonti's rant against RV owners and his cry for the rights for the neighbor's peace, one wonders about the rights of RV owners and their peace. It's apparent to agenda-driven people like Mr. Fonti that only his group have rights in his America.

Families who enjoy camping in RVs shouldn't be allowed to own them because they infringe on people like Mr. Fonti and their peace. And if one owns an RV, it can be parked anywhere except in the same city where people like John Fonti reside.

And then he cynically criticizes RV owners for their lame excuses for asking the city for places to store them- using general fund tax dollars- and accuses RV owners of using political influence and payoffs for favors of the traffic commission.

Mr. Fonti: People who use RV storage spaces pay dearly for them on a monthly basis. Tax payers do not pay for RV owners' storage fees.

Fonti also says inconsiderate RV owners will find it more expensive and difficult to park on city streets if new parking rules are considered.

As it already is, parking an RV on a city street is very restrictive and code enforced. His solution is to outlaw any parking of RVs from any city street.

He then confuses the issue by throwing in film companies and their vehicle parking for creating havoc and mayhem in neighborhoods day and night.

Fonti further states that this issue comes up every few years and the council never seems to find a real solution. That's because people like Fonti are always bringing up this issue, and the only solution he'll be satisfied with is his solution.

Why can't we all just get along, and live and let live?

The attitude "I don't like RVs so no one should own them" isn't consistent with what this country stands for.

Mr. Fonti, you have a legal right to pursue what makes you happy, so please be more tolerant to others who may have a different path to enjoyment. Greg Lee Newbury Park
