The Ventura Chapter of National Charity League recently presented a check for $3,000 to the Santa Paula Theater Center for a new sound system for the backstage to use during performances.

The donation was $2,000 more than last year.

The Santa Paula Theater Center has been one of the many philanthropies that National Charity League has been donating time and money to for several years.

At the end of each year the Ventura Chapter divides the funds they have raised among various philanthropies. This year raised more than $19,000, going directly to nonprofits throughout the county, along with 7,741 hours of volunteered time.

The Ventura Chapter was organized in 1959 and chartered in 1960.
