Wellness has full calendar of events

The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura will present the following special events in June. Its offices are at 530 Hampshire Road in the Westlake Village portion of Thousand Oaks.

Programs are free to those with cancer, cancer survivors and loved ones but require reservations.

• 18th anniversary gala fundraising event will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Fri., June 5 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village.

•National Cancer Survivors Day Family Picnic will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sat., June 6.

•Comedy Night will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mon., June 8. The featured performer will be "king of the one liners" Barry Weisenberg, winner of the Las Vegas Comedy Festival in 2006.

• Artist/educator John Storojev will teach a sculpting class from 1 to 3 p.m. Fridays, June 12 to 26.

The class is open to beginners. All materials will be provided. Class is limited to eight participants.

•Breast Cancer Connection: Advances in Breast Cancer Treatment: Report of the 31st annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., June 18.

Susie Jun, M.D., will discuss stateofthe art findings of international leaders in the field of breast cancer research, detection and treatment as presented at the symposium.

Jun is a clinical research medical director at Amgen in Thousand Oaks.

•The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura administrative offices will be closed beginning June 1 through the summer. Regularly scheduled programs will continue.
