The Los Cerritos Choir participated in a prominent choral competition, Music in the Parks Festival in Anaheim in May.

The choir of 120 students entered the competition a mixed choir and a women's choir. Both choirs won first place and received a unanimous superior rating in their divisions.

In addition, the mixed choir received the Best Overall Choir. Fifteen other choirs, including high school groups, competed.

The choir's final concert of the school year will be 7 p.m. Tues., June 9 at the Los Cerritos Middle School gym, 2100 E. Avenida de Las Flores in Thousand Oaks.

Janice Hague is the choir director.

During the past school year, the choir performed a winter concert in December 2008, a musical "Sentimental Journey" in March and took part in the All District Choir Festival at the Civic Arts Plaza in April.
