•Jordan P. Turner of Thousand Oaks has been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in art.

Jordan, a student at Thousand Oaks High School, was nominated by teacher Victoria Sonstegard.

Jordan is the son of Jay Turner and Susan Odegaard Turner of Thousand Oaks.

•Jocelyn Brousseau, daughter of Rekna Garg of Newbury Park, was named to the dean's list for the second semester of the 2008-09 school year at Hope College in Holland, Mich. To be named to the list, students must have a minimum 3.5 grade-point average on a four-point scale.
