Students chosen for leadership
      Five local high school sophomores will attend the annual Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar Series from June 5 to 7 at California Lutheran University. The students are Siara Behar of Westlake High School, Bryce Beisswanger of Viewpoint, Patrick Rosenberg of Agoura High, Shani Winston of Oak Park High and Melissa Han of Newbury Park High.

Meadows hosting reunion picnic
      Meadows Elementary School is hosting a reunion picnic for former students, staff and teachers from 4 to 6 p.m. Sun., June 7 at the school, 2000 La Granada Drive, Thousand Oaks. The event will have hot dogs on a stick, ice cream, disc jockey, memories and video gallery.

Middle School choir will conclude concert season on Tuesday
      The Los Cerritos Choir participated in a prominent choral competition, Music in the Parks Festival in Anaheim in May. The choir of 120 students entered the competition a mixed choir and a women's choir. Both choirs won first place and received a unanimous superior rating in their divisions.

      An Oak Park High School student was the lone Ventura County student to place first Tuesday at the 58th annual California State Science Fair in Los Angeles.

      •Jordan P. Turner of Thousand Oaks has been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in art. Jordan, a student at Thousand Oaks High School, was nominated by teacher Victoria Sonstegard.

Classes offered for good cause
      Bodysattva Healing Arts and Movement Center is offering a variety of summer classes. The first class is free, and subsequent classes will take a $10 donation per class to benefit either Pink Ribbon Foundation, Conejo Hospice or National M.S. Society.
