An RV eyesore and more clutter can be easily seen on Arboles
I find it amusing that the city is reviewing its RV parking policy. I assume the reasons include aesthetics and code compliance, so why then have the city and its attorney dismissed our concerns/complaints regarding a property in the 1400 block of Avenida de Los Arboles?
The site, presumably owned by a construction company, has been under construction for at least five years. It sits at the stop sign just west of the 23 Freeway on Arboles with too many violations to list, from three garages and no driveways, to trucks parked on the property, vehicles blocking a crosswalk, etc.
The people who own this eyesore haven't stopped there.
They've taken i t upon themselves to occupy the locked public service easement adjacent to this property to park their RV and skip loader(s), and to store tons of sand, gravel, brick and stone.
The reason this easement was locked is because buried beneath it is the neighborhood gas main, which is clearly marked on the gate and clearly ignored by both the residents and the city.
I can't imagine that I'm the only person who's contacted the city about this particular problem.
In February, the assistant city attorney, in a brief reply to my query, informed me that a decision would be made within a week, and referred to the "complexity of the case." I'd beg to differ; any fourthgrader at Park Oaks Elementary School, right down the street from this "house," could figure this one out!
I fail to see what the holdup is, unless it's the address itself.
If this was happening at a property in, say, North Ranch or in the city attorney's neighborhood, the city wouldn't find it that "complex."
Over $90,000 to study The Lakes business plan; over $80,000 to ask residents if they want to pay more taxes (duh!); 2,765 complaints about one issue with only 163 of them resolved in two full years!
I don't know what a code compliance officer makes, but I know of two useless expenditures that could certainly cover the salaries of a few more. Francis Johnston Thousand Oaks
