The Movie Nut
      "Up" Rated: PG When I gave Ben Stiller's original "Night at the Museum" (2006) a less than stellar review, I was physically accosted, by an Acorn editor no less, whose kids thought the film was, you know, the greatest thing ever. And here I was, evil critic, raining on their parade.

Margarita contest was a close one
      Voting was close at the recent eight annual Margarita Mix-off at the Conejo Creek Park in Thousand Oaks. With only a few votes separating the top five restaurants, the Alamo Mexican Restaurant, Newbury Park and Agoura, won the People's Choice Award for the third year in a row.

      Janss Marketplace will host the annual Summer Jams Concert Series at the grassy area near the fountain or in the food courtyard of the shopping center at Moorpark Road and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. The weekly Wednesday outdoor concerts are free and take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

Stagecoach seeking actors
      The Stagecoach Inn Museum is casting "Our Towns on the Conejo" 2009, a historical play written by Elaine Williams and directed by Mary Carrig. Auditions will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thurs. and Fri., June 11 and 12 at the Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park.
