Golf tourney and banquet for Irish John Gore a huge success
Hospice of the Conejo's May 18 charity golf tournament and banquet honoring Irish John Gore yielded a surprise—three times the anticipated net.
"Results indicate instead of raising the $5,000 we'd initially hoped for in this sluggish economy, we netted $15,000," said Irene Brennick, Hospice's vice president for fundraising and the event chair.
She said about 130 golfers participated, and an additional 110 people came to the banquet to honor Gore.
"Hospice needs this to help fund (its) various programs— provided to our clients free of charge—for those in declining stages of their lives and their families, and even young kids dealing with related life issues," said Hospice board president Susan Boyce.
Conejo Hospice Inc. is at 80 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, in Community Conscience's Under One Roof building.
