Foundation Helps Pet Owners in The Area

2009-06-04 / Business

The Herman Bennett Foundation has sponsored more than 4,000 spay/neuter surgeries to date, made possible by partnerships with the Human Society of Ventura County, Adobe Animal Hospital, Mercy Spay and Neuter Clinic of Ventura County, Santa Paula Animal Clinic, Valley Veterinary Spay and Neuter Clinic, and Ventura Veterinary Hospital.

Despite this accomplishment, a serious pet overpopulation problem remains in Ventura County. According to Ventura County Animal Control, 67 percent of cats and 33 percent of dogs were euthanized at the shelter in 2007-08.

The foundation encourages all pet owners living in Ventura County who need financial assistance to call the office at (805) 648-1044 or (818) 876-9135. Se habla español.

Sandra Lozano, the foundation director, and the board of directors welcome the newest partnership with Battier Veterinary Clinic and Camarillo Veterinary Hospital.

In addition to the spay/neuter voucher program, the foundation offers an education/outreach program to schools, Scouts, senior citizens and any educational group willing to learn more and assist with outreach efforts.

For more information or to become a volunteer or educator, call the Herman Bennett Foundation office at (805) 648-1044 or (818) 876-9135.
