Meetings educate on prostate cancer
The Thousand Oaks Us TOO/Man 2 Man prostate cancer education and support group has two meetings planned for June to help keep men apprised of the latest developments in the battle against the disease.
At 6:30 p.m. on Wed., June 3, Acorn managing editor John Loesing will discuss his involvement with the Climbs for Prostate Cancer, a team of survivors and other men and women who climb some of the world's highest mountains to raise funds and awareness for a prostate cancer cure.
Loesing has climbed 22,850foot Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest mountain in the western hemisphere; 19,330foot Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest mountain in Africa; and Mont Blonc, France, the icy 15,780-foot roof of the Alps.
In mid-June he'll embark on an expedition with 15 men and women from the U.S. and Canada to climb Mount Cotopaxi, Ecuador, which is said to be the world's highest active volcano at 19,350 feet.
