Methodists to host Round-Up Days this weekend
Country and Western RoundUp Days will take place this weekend at the United Methodist Church of Thousand Oaks, 1000 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
Festival hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sat., May 30 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sun., May 31.
The United Methodist DeepPit Barbecue, the original and longest running food booth at Conejo Valley Days for 47 years, is at the church site itself for the second year. The facility used is the only deeppit barbecue approved by the Ventura County health department.
The event will also have entertainment, live music and children's activities such as face painting, bouncer and dunk tank.
Westminster Free Clinic will give free health screenings, blood pressure and blood sugar tests. A barbecue dinner of slowroasted beef, chili beans, cole slaw, garlic toast and drink is $10 for adults and $7 for children under 12. The cost includes festival admission.
A children's hot dog meal is also available for $4.
Nonperishable food items will be accepted at the Manna booth. Children can plant vegetable seeds and take them home to grow.
Half of all proceeds will be donated to Manna, the Conejo Valley food bank and half to the Westminster Free Clinic.
The two-day festival attracted more than 1,200 people during its inaugural run last year.
