Teacher from Thousand Oaks wins award from UCLA Extension

Thousand Oaks resident Woodie Tescher received a 2009 Distinguished Instructor Award from UCLA Extension in a recent ceremony on the UCLA campus.

Tescher has taught for the past seven years in UCLA Extension's Public Policy Program. His course topics have included the art and economics of building green, California's general plans, urban design principles and practices, and adaptive reuse and recycling of buildings and land.

Tescher is a principal of the Los Angelesbased urban planning and design firm PBS&J. He frequently travels to Sacramento to consult on statewide policy issues, including assisting the revision of the general plan guidelines that affect cities throughout California.

Distinguished instructor award recipients must have a minimum of three years and 60 units of teaching service with UCLA Extension.

Awardees must exhibit leadership in curriculum and program development, student mentoring, and instructor recruiting and development.
