Census Center seeks managers
      The Los Angeles Regional Census Center is recruiting managers for 27 local census offices, 26 of them in Southern California and one in Honolulu, Hawaii. This fall these offices will open to direct field operations for the region's population count on Census Day, April 1, 2010.

      Scott Polzin has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of Senior Concerns, a nonprofit social agency providing services for aging seniors and their caregiver families. He was appointed as executive director of University Village retirement community in Thousand Oaks in 2006.

      Have you ever done something so life-changing that you just wanted to shout it to the world? Recently, a group of eight local women and I traveled to Kwazulu, South Africa, and I will never be the same. We went to visit an AIDS orphanage called Lily of the Valley.

Run to benefit Meals on Wheels
      The 16th annual Love Run will be Sun., June 7 in the parking lot of Westlake Park Place, 3011 Townsgate Road, Westlake Village. The run, sponsored by Jersey Mike's Subs, will benefit Senior Concern's Meals on Wheels. Microchip-timed 5K and 10K runs will start at 8 and 8:50 a.m. respectively, and an untimed one-mile fun walk/run will begin at 9 a.m.

Low-income seniors get grant for care programs
      The California Community Foundation recently awarded Villa Esperanza Services with a twoyear $100,000 grant to support operations of the organization's Adult Day Program with an emphasis on expanding programs and services for adults age 60 and over who do not have developmental disabilities.
