New Italian gelato eatery opens in The Oaks

Paciugo Gelato Caffe, a family owned and operated company specializing in artisan Italian gelato, is now open in Thousand Oaks at 190 W. Hillcrest Drive in The Oaks mall.

Local husband-and-wife team Patty and Scotty Murphy run the shop, which offers more than 250 gelato flavors.

Paciugo Gelato Caffe freshly handcrafts upwards of 40 flavors each morning in small batches, following authentic recipes and using traditional ingredients such as whole pasteurized milk, cane sugar, handsqueezed fruit juices and seasonal fruit from local farmers, chocolate from Belgium, and Italian hazelnuts, pistachios and candied amarene cherries.

Prices range from $3.79 for a single serving of gelato with a choice of three different flavors to $5.99 for a specialty items.

The menu also includes all natural, Fair Trade, 100 percent Arabica coffee and espressobased drinks as well as gelatobased specialty desserts.
