Seven young musicians to perform with T.O. Philharmonic
Seven young artists will perform in the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Opus 24 Concert at 7:30 p.m. Fri., May 29 in the Camarillo United Methodist Church sanctuary, 291 Anacapa Drive.
The concert will be repeated at 7 p.m. Sun., May 31 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Scherr Forum Theatre.
A preconcert lecture discussing the composers and artists will be at 6:45 p.m.
The soloists will be accompanied by a 35-piece orchestra conducted by Richard Rintoul, who is making his second appearance with the Philharmonic.
The young performers range in age from 11 to 18 and come from Calabasas, Oak Park, Agoura and Simi Valley.
Performing will be Michael Aspenwall (piano), 15, from Calabasas; Alec Cheng (violin), 11, from Simi Valley; Joshua Hong (piano), 18, from Simi Valley; Vivian Rotenstein (piano), 14, from Oak Park; Jared Shull (horn), 14, from Calabasas; Heidy Wang (piano), 16; and Victoria Wang (piano), 12, from Agoura. Heidy and Victoria are sisters.
Michael will perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1; Alec will perform Bach's Violin Concerto in E Major; Joshua will play Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1; Vivian will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 (Third Movement); Jared will play Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 2; Heidy will perform SaintSaens' Piano Concerto No. 2; and Victoria will play Mozart's Piano Concerto in F Major.
The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic is a nonprofit organization founded to give local young artists a professional performance experience.
