Park Oaks celebrates 50th year
Park Oaks Elementary School will host a 50th anniversary celebration in conjunction with Open House for current students, alumni and the community on Fri., May 29 at the school, 1335 Calle Bouganvilla, Thousand Oaks.
Classroom visitations will be available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Music, food and memorabilia are scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Pizza sticks and cowboy bread will both be served as "nostalgia food." With the changes that have taken place in nutrition programs, these items are no longer allowed in school cafeterias, but many alumni remember pizza sticks as being their favorite lunchtime food.
Also on the snack menu for the event will be the fruit and vegetable items now available to students at the Produce Patch.
Due to a water line rupture a few years ago, almost all of the memorabilia for Park Oaks was destroyed. Alumni are asked to donate or make copies of photos, articles or artifacts to restore the historical records.
