L.A. County cop surrenders voluntarily
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Steven Mark Flamm, 42, has been arrested after turning himself in to Thousand Oaks policeearlier this month.
He could face charges of felony grand theft and misdemeanor child endangerment for allegedly shoplifting two jackets with a combined value of $790 from Nordstrom at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks on May 1. His daughter, under age 10, was allegedly involved in the theft.
Nordstrom's loss-prevention officers stopped Flamm outside the store after the alleged theft, and a sheriff's deputy came to the scene. Flamm was released at the time, pending further investigation, Ventura County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Detective Eric Buschow said.
Probable cause to arrest Flamm was determined by investigation that included reviewing surveillance video, Buschow said.
After his arrest, Flamm was released on $10,000 bail.
