Junior Women's Club celebrates 40th
RATTLING THOSE BONES—Brent and Rebecca Simpson try their hand at the Westlake Village Junior Women's club craps table. The Westlake Village Junior Women's Club and Tarzana Treatment Center raised more than $25,000 during the annual spring fundraiser on May 2 at Padri Restaurant & Martini Bar in Agoura Hills.
The sold-out Casino Night began with cocktails and traypassed hors d'oeuvres, followed by an Italian buffet dinner.
Guests had the opportunity to wager $1,000 in funny money on games such as craps, blackjack, Texas Hold 'em poker and roulette.
A highlight of the evening was the silent auction, which included tickets to ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," an exclusive UCLA basket with tickets and collectible merchandise, Dodgers game tickets, rounds of golf at local clubs, weekend getaways, dinners at local restaurants, celebrity memorabilia, adult and children's parties, video games and photography sessions.
Prizes for the casino games include a $500 gift certificate to Wades Wine, golf and lunch for four at Sherwood Country Club and a four-hour "Day of Beauty Wellness Package" from Ultimate Skin in Calabasas.
Celebrating its 40th year, the club is open to all women from the greater Conejo Valley area. In 2008, the club donated nearly $65,000 to many local charities.
Members volunteer their time and talent on a regular basis for Meals on Wheels, to cook for and serve the hungry, and in other capacities that serve those in need.
The annual membership drive begins in August for women who are interested in joining the club. For more information, visit www.westlakejuniors.org.
