Westlake High School singers win at Heritage Music Festival
The Westlake High School choral music department, under the direction of Alan Rose, recently competed in the Heritage Music Festival in the San Francisco area. The musicians won seven gold and two silver medals.
Nine groups, comprising more than 200 Westlake High students, performed during the event.
The Women's Chorale, Vocal Ensemble, Madrigal Singers, Men's Ensemble, Tremble Makers, Premiere and Men's Show Ensemble groups all received gold medals.
The Freshman Chorus and the Mixed Chorale both received silver medals.
Special adjudicator awards went to the Vocal Ensemble, Premiere and ACA/Madrigal Singers.
The Premiere show choir won Outstanding Choral Music Group Award, and the school also received the overall Choral Sweepstakes Award.
Choirs throughout California, Idaho, Washington and Nevada also participated in the competition.
