Your May 7 headline about La Reina High School swimmer Ariana Peschke, "Peschke the pescado," is at the same time silly, ignorant and inappropriate.

Pescado is indeed the Spanish word for fish, but only as a food commodity, i.e., caught, sold, cooked, served and/or eaten, similar to the English words beef and pork.

The Spanish word for a fish alive and happily swimming as per this comparison is pez. Robb Quint Thousand Oaks
