Toys needed to help organization grant wishes
Nonprofit also requests donations of air miles
      Like other charities hit by the recession, MakeAWish Foundation of the Tri-Counties needs more donations. While cash donations would be nice, the nonprofit would rather have items such as toys, iPods and electronic games. Its toy shelves need replenishing.

      COMPETITIVE SKATEBOARDING- Westlake High School student Grant Phillips, 13, competes in the recent national High School Skateboard Association's Futures AM Series, presented by Sneaux. The recent event at Skatelab in Simi Valley featured 20 teams from Region 1, representing more than 20 high schools.

Talent shines at Janss
      Janss Marketplace recently hosted its inaugural Talent and Model Search. The title of "2009 Beauty/ Talent of the Year" was awarded to Josephine Parks. The winners in each age category were Cotton Oliver (age 2 and under), Evan Kyriazopoulos (age 3 to 4), Josephine Parks (age 5 to 8), Madi Green (age 9 to 12) and Melissa Klein (age 13 to 18).
