T.O. Acorn honored by Conejo Council PTA, and we're committed to raising the bar
The Thousand Oaks Acorn would like to thank Terri Childs and the Conejo Council PTA for giving an award on Monday night to this publication for coverage of Conejo Valley Unified School District. See photo on page 3.
We try hard to keep you, the residents of Thousand Oaks, informed about what's happening in your public schools. Childs was especially appreciative of stories and photos that summarize the good things that are happening in CVUSD. She cited and praised Acorn reporter Joann Groff for her excellent work in covering public schools.
Childs deserves credit from us, too, for reminding the audience at Palm Garden Hotel that the Acorn doesn't sugarcoat the news. Childs knows that balanced and objective stories are important to us.
That's all the school district can expect from a community newspaper.
This serves as a good time, too, to remind readers that this publication is committed and will remain committed to doing the best job we can in covering our schools.
We've said before and we'll say it again: Conejo Valley Unified School District is an asset to everyone who lives here, not just parents and children.
Good schools are important to property values, which will soon be appreciating again.
Good schools attract and keep young people and families here.
The meeting was attended by all five trustees on the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education and by several administrators, including Superintendent Mario Contini.
At the Thousand Oaks Acorn, the award serves as an incentive.
We promise we won't rest on our laurels.
