Soroptimists host mix-off
Soroptimist International of the Conejo will host its eighth annual Margarita Mix-off at Conejo Creek Park North in Thousand Oaks from 6 until 8 p.m. Thurs., May 21.
Tickets are $30 per person. Participating again will be last year's People's Choice winner (Best Margarita in the West), The Alamo restaurant of Newbury Park and Agoura. Joining them will be Borderline Bar and Grill, Thousand Oaks; Cafe Firenze and Tierra Rejada Golf Club, Moorpark; Chili's of The Promenade in Westlake and Newbury Park; Holdren's, Newbury Park; Elephant Bar, Limon Latin Grill, Simi Valley; Money Pancho, Camarillo; and Sagebrush Cantina, Calabasas. There will also be a special booth for rare tequila sampling.
Restaurants will compete in the following categories: People's Choice, Best Blended Margarita. Best on the Rocks Margarita, Best Hors d'oeuvres, Best Decorated Booth, Best Presentation and Best Entertainment.
Strolling mariachis will provide music. Appetizers will be served, and nonalcoholic beverages and coffee will also be available. Attendees can also participate in silent auctions. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit local charities.
Soroptimist International of the Conejo is a group of women who've served the community for more than 26 years.
