Historian shares French pioneer story of Santa Monica Mountains

French historian Helene Demeestere will share stories about French pioneers in the Santa Monica Mountains at 2 p.m. Sat., May 16 at the National Park Service Visitor Center, 401 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.
Demeestere is a professional researcher and a doctoral student at Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne. She is writing a thesis on French immigration to California.
She was the curator of a photo exhibit, "Pioneers and Entrepreneurs: French Immigrants in the Making of L.A. 1827-1927," at the Pico House in Los Angeles.
