Thieves find new ways to steal cash
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is
      First, the moral of the story: Don't ever send money to claim a "free" prize. T.O. police want residents to beware of a reverse lottery scam that's left one senior citizen minus $5,000 in her bank account. The scam begins with a legitimate-looking letter in the mail that says the recipient has won the Publisher's Clearing House $1-million Sweepstakes.

Police Blotter
      Newbury Park A male, 42, was allegedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine, and he was arrested at 7 p.m. April 24 in the 2700 block of Teller Road. The subject reportedly possessed a glass smoking pipe and $236 worth of stolen merchandise from Home Depot.

      Residents may obtain assistance in obtaining domestic violence restraining orders at the district attorney's East County office in the East County Courthouse, Ste. 2880, 2855-F Alamo St., Simi Valley. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
