Why My Mom is the Best

My mom, Carol Piuser, has a phobia: water. She is terrified of drowning. I loved the ocean. As a kid I wanted to be out in the waves. I loved it! I found out about mom's fear as an adult. When she mentioned it, I was astounded. I asked how she could sit there on the beach and watch us go so far and not freak out. Her response: "I was freaking out; I just didn't want you to know because I didn't want to pass on my fear." It made me love her even more than I already did. Sherry Jensen Thousand Oaks

Raising crazy twin boys, a moody teenager, as well as myself, it is amazing that you are still alive. Thank you so much for everything you have done, and we all love you so much. We would have never been able to get through everything without you. You are always there for us, whether it is cracking a difficult math homework problem, offering advice for any problem we give you or just sitting in the Jacuzzi with everyone (including Annie) and just laughing. You truly are the "coolest mom." We all love you so much!! Mary Madden Thousand Oaks

Our mom is the best in the world because she gives us hugs and kisses all day long, tells us how much she loves us all the time. We are so lucky that we got the best mommy in the world. Matthew, Jason and Brandon Pincus Thousand Oaks

I have always felt that my mom, Sally Mark, is the best mother in the world! She has been such a blessing to our family. From picking up the grandkids to caring for me after my recent brain surgery, my mom is always there for us. She does all of this with a warm, positive attitude, a smile and love. Living with nonHodgkin's lymphoma and having back and brain surgery have not diminished her loving, caring, kind ways; they have shown me what an inspirational gift my mom is, and I am lucky, privileged and grateful to have her. Barbara Mark Thousand Oaks

My mother is a wonderful human being. I know everyone thinks that of their mom, but mine really is!

My mother has to be one of the most real people I know, always generous with her warm advice (whether it's asked for or not). She is a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

My mother's kindness knows no boundaries. She always goes out of her way to do nice things for people.

My mother is Sydelle Goodman, and Robert, Devyn, Clyde and I love her very much. We are so fortunate to have her and my dad in our lives. Lauri Grenner and family Thousand Oaks

Everyone has a special person in their life. For some, it's a teacher. Others might choose a famous person, but my hero, my special person, is my mom.

She is one of those people that are always there for friends and family. She has always made us kids feel like we are number one and very special.

When you are in her presence she is like a ray of sunshine. She has been a great role model for me, and I only wish to be half the mom that she has been to my brother and me. I love you, Mom! Paulette Worthy Thousand Oaks

My mom's name is Krissy Thompson. She is the best mom in the world because . . .

She takes me on fun trips and loves me very much. She takes care of me and my sister, Ella. She works at the Four Seasons Spa and she loves her job. My mom is very pretty inside and out. She is a great runner and has run many marathons and is nice enough to give her medals to me. My favorite presents are always the ones from my mom. I love her very much. She is definitely the best mom in the world! Hannah Thompson Westlake Village

"Beautiful Mom" Wakes me up in the morning with a gentle touch As she drops me off at the bus stop, she gives me a loving hug and says, "Have a great day!" During school I miss her, but when I come home, she greets me with a smile No matter how busy mom is, she is always there to lend me a helping hand In the evening, I crawl into my mom's bed and read a special tale of a son so close to his mother, and I think that's me The only thing more beautiful than my mother's face is her heart Andrew Severino, 8 Westlake Village

Her hands tuck me into bed at night, Her hands turn the pages of a story as I stare into her loving eyes, Her hands brush out the tangles in my hair with tender care, Her hands have helped me blossom into the person I am, Her hands held mine as a little child, and always will. I hope my hands will grow to be as beautiful as hers one day. Laura Power Westlake Village my mother doesn't get paid to cook dinner every night or to love me unconditionally or to drive me around to where I need to go or to help me with my homework or to play music with me but, still, she is appreciated and loved. thank you so much for everything you've done I'll pay you back with love . . . IOU: lots of kisses and hugs p.s.: you are the best mom ever! Noah, Steven and Joshua Thousand Oaks

My mother, Lorena Volz, was born Oct. 9, 1905, in Au Sable, Mich. She was widowed in 1969. She's since lived alone, with her sister and with us, and is now at Hillside Manor in Thousand Oaks. My wife, Kay, will attest that my mom is as good a mother-in-law as anyone could want.

Mom is known as "Mommy Lorena" at Hillside Manor. She is in fantastic shape, though she needs a walker and assistance to get around. She works two crossword puzzles every day, crochets and watches TV. She's a great old gal. Don Volz Thousand Oaks Lola Had it not been for you There would be no beginning no morning sky. Had it not been for you obstacles and challenges I would not even try. All roads remain impossible permanently closed. All possibilities limited just a dark lonely road. But with you my skies are clear, my paths open wide. I think of you and I try, I try, I try. You are my morning glory mom, My light, my beam. If not for you My very existence would be but only a dream. Roland Roy Newbury Park

My mom claims to have the best job, being a stay-at-home mom, but to be honest I can't remember the last time she just stayed home. She's always helping out with anything and everything my siblings and I are involved in. A week doesn't go by without me seeing her at my school putting on some function, which some kids would hate but I wouldn't have any other way. It's my desire to be even half the mom she's been to me for my own kids one day. She's simply the best!

I, like many other people, think my mom is an extraordinary mother and abuela! She is generous, loving and supportive. But it has taken me being a mom to really appreciate everything she has done and continues to do for us. She is the glue that binds our family together. I am and forever will be grateful to her. On this Mother's Day I want her to know how much she is loved! Te queremos mucho viejita! From Laurie, Martin and Tyler Laurie Erlig-White Thousand Oaks

This is supposed to be easy enough to say in four small words: I love you, Mom. But the fact of the matter is, those four words encompass an entire set of encyclopedias on what makes my mom great: the way she always answers her phone, even when I have nothing much to say; the way she cheers me on to open doors for myself that I didn't even know existed; and, yes, the way she never fails to remember my latte order. She has taught me to be the woman I am, and for that, I love you, Mom. Mary Rice Newbury Park

My mom is the best mom in the world. She is beautiful and does really nice things for me, and I love her so much. Happy Mother's Day, Mommy!

Colin Stern, 6 Westlake Village

Dear Mommy, I am so happy that you are my mommy. You are the best mommy in the whole world. You're so smart and kind and have shown me how to be a good girl and to treat my friends with kindness and respect. I am always excited to see you at the end of the day as I have missed you while you've been at work all day. I really enjoy our time together, especially on the weekends when you take me to all kinds of neat places. I hope when I grow up I can be just like you! Love, Ella Pereira Wauchope Thousand Oaks

There are good deeds which are advertised like fireworks on the Fourth of July, and then there is my mother's love, which holds its light long after the celebrations have faded. When unselfish love is given, there is not a bouquet of roses left to show its passing but rather a feeling of warmth, security and strength. Individually each act my mom has done seems unheroic, but the total deeds are a picture of devotion. My mother gave me these gifts, and I don't know how I can ever repay her. Marie Stanek Thousand Oaks

My mom is like Mary Poppins—nearly perfect in every way. She's 82 and still mows her own lawn. She's patient, generous, hardworking and kind.

She gave swimming lessons and rubbed ointment on my sunburned back. She placed cold cloths on my feverish forehead. She came to my wrestling matches and plays and teared up with pride when I won an award.

Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children arise and call her blessed." I'll make her reputation shine as I brag on her and let her know I am proud of my Mom! Dale Johnsen Westlake Village

My mom is the world's greatest mom because of what she does for everyone else. She is always working or running errands so she can give me the best life possible. She does so much that it's hard to comprehend how she does it. She manages to find time to work, volunteer and be a great mom (the mom part always comes first). Regardless of the time of day or night, my mom is there to talk or help us with anything we need. There is nothing she can do to be a better mom because she is already there. Brian Ginell Thousand Oaks

My mom is the best mom in the whole world because she is always there for me. When I have a sports event, something at our temple or something at school, she always gives up time to watch me. I love her so much for doing all of these things. My mom is absolutely the best mom in the whole world. No matter how other people feel about their moms, I know my mom is the greatest. Adam Ginell Thousand Oaks

If I ever have children, I hope that I can be as loving and as compassionate as my mother. Out of all the children in the world, God delicately placed me in my mother's arms. Since that day, almost 30 years ago, I am still here. I love you, mom. Kelli Anne Lewin Thousand Oaks
