Dancers win first place

Lilly Alexander's Academy of Dance and School of Performing Arts competed last weekend at the Tremaine Dance Convention/ Competition in Los Angeles.

The dancers competed in jazz, tap, lyrical and hip-hop.

Seven of the nine dances they competed in received first-place awards and two received secondplace trophies.

The academy's Jazz Company routine titled "Bird Flu" won Top Score Overall in the Teen Division.

All 20 members of the competitive dance team attended the event, where they took dance classes from some of the nation's top choreographers, including convention namesake Joe Tremaine.
