Energy Saving Water Heaters Have Tax Incentives

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the U.S. government is offering a full 30 percent tax credit, up to a maximum of $1,500, for homeowners who invest in an energy-efficient tankless gas water heater in 2009 and 2010.

And through the end of this year, Southern California Gas Company also offers an additional conservation rebate of up to $200.

Roy and Christina Madigan of Thousand Oaks are the owners of Conejo Tankless. Roy Madigan is a fully licensed plumbing contractor and certified specialist who has focused on installing tankless heaters for two years.

Environmentally conscious consumers have been keeping demand strong and with the added incentives, business is booming.

Tankless systems are "smart," only providing hot water on demand. They are in wide use in Japan and Europe, but are relatively new to the United States.

Conejo Tankless has distinctive trucks with a photo of Old Faithful: "The best idea in hot water since Old Faithful."

The company services households from Camarillo to Woodland Hills and Malibu to Simi Valley.
