YAE presents 'Once Upon a Mattress'

The Young Artists Ensemble will present "Once Upon a Mattress," the Broadway musical based on the "Princess and the Pea" fairy tale, from May 1 through 17 at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The production is directed by Georgeanne Lees with musical direction by Susan Treworgy and choreography by Catrina Quintanilla.

The show is performed by Conejo Valley youths ages 10 to 19.

The play was nominated for a Tony for Best Musical and Best Leading Actress (Carol Burnett).

Music is by Mary Rodgers with lyrics by Marshall Barer and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer.

The Young Artists Ensemble is presented through the efforts of the Conejo Recreation and Park District, the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley, the Conejo Valley Unified School District and the Gold Coast Performing Arts Association.

Tickets are $17.50 for adult evening reserved seats, $14.50 for adult Saturday matinees, $16 for adult Sunday matinees, $14.50 for child/student/senior evenings, $12.50 for child/student/senior Saturday matinees and $13.50 for child/student/senior Sunday matinees.
