Do-it Center wins again, but why?

2009-04-30 / Letters

It's remarkable that Do-it Center- a store that to me lacks choices of product, good prices and customer service- can once again convince a community to keep a competitor from opening nearby. Its owner kept Home Depot from opening in Agoura Hills, Lowe's from opening in Westlake Village, and now, Home Depot from opening in Thousand Oaks.

Shame on the City Council for disregarding the view of the voters. I hope all voters remember this when elections come around.

In his letter to the Acorn published on April 16, local resident Bob Meisterling properly suggested the city repay Home Depot for its costs that were spent.

I agree that those costs incurred since the election probably are the source of recovery, even if by litigation, and, yes, I am a lawyer.

However, I would do better than Mr. Meisterling. I would suggest that the city send the bill to Do-it Center. They seemingly can afford it, though I'll be sure never to shop there again. Bruce Rudman Thousand Oaks
