The kids from St. Maximillian Kolbe Church were helping celebrate Earth Day at the hotel last Friday. Earth Day was celebrated on Fri., April 24 at Westlake Village Inn on Agoura Road.

Organizers of the event, led by Maria Solorzano, have been presenting Earth Day celebrations since 2002.

The annual event showed how businesses and lifestyle changes can make a difference. This year, Westlake Village Inn educated children about sustaining the environment through a tree planting ceremony.

"We're a hotel that's definitely trying to do the right thing," said Solorzano.

Her remark was echoed by Amy Commans, innkeeper at the facility.

"Earth Day is a time to celebrate gains we've made at the property and create new visions to accelerate environmental progress. . . . Every day is a time to act to protect our planet," Commans said.
